Professor in Globalisation Studies, head of the Department of Media studies, and member of the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA), at the University of Amsterdam. Since 2019, he is affiliated to the School of Music and Recording Arts and part of the State Key Lab of Media Convergence and Communication of the Communication University of China in Beijing. Since 2015 he is a regular visiting scholar at the Beijing Film Academy. Founder and coordinator of the ASCA Transasia Cultural Studies Group. His work focuses on the cultural implications of globalisation, with a special interest in contemporary China.
